Mayda Aldama Obituary

Mrs. Mayda D. Aldama, 64, broke the hearts of her family and friends when she left her earthly home on Monday, February 2, 2026.

We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.

Family and friends are invited to the memorial visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Saturday, February 21st. from 1:00-4:00PM.  The cremation in Rosehill Crematory, Linden was private.

Mayda, the daughter of the late Santa Torriente and the late Carlos Aldama was born in Havana, Cuba.  She came to the United States in July of 1999 and resided in Linden, New Jersey before settling in Roselle in 2018.

For over ten years, Mayda worked for the Elizabeth Board of Education as a teacher’s assistant, regretfully leaving her post in November of 2025, due to illness.

She loved to work with the soil, producing an outstanding garden of abundant vegetables, as well as a flower garden that was her pride and joy.  It was filled with numerous flowers in the shade of yellow, as that was Mayda’s favorite color.  Yellow was her signature calling card and everyone knew it!

The essence of Mayda’s character was that she was a kind, caring and loving lady.  She never uttered a bad word about anyone and continually looked for the good in everyone she met.  Mayda treated all who encountered her with a quiet dignity, respect and always a pleasant conversation that was returned in kind to her tenfold.

Mayda was predeceased by her sister, Dalia Aldama.  She is survived by her son, Carlos A. Tiant and her sister, Illiana Aldama, her many nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends and co-workers.

Mayda was a very exceptional person, and she had an abundance of love for everyone in her circle.  She will be deeply missed, but Mayda will never be forgotten. May she have Eternal Rest.

Carlos offers his heartfelt thanks to all for the love and comfort given to him during this very difficult time.  He greatly appreciates everyone who supported him and showed him just how much they loved and admired his mother!
