Marian Adegboyega Obituary

Mrs. Marian Abosede Adegboyega, 99, surrounded by the love of her family, entered the arms of her Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, .

On Friday, March 6, 2026, from 9:30-10:30AM, family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Metuchen Assembly of God Church, 130 Whitman Avenue in Metuchen.  Following the visitation, there will be a two-hour church service.  At 12:30PM, after the final farewells, all are invited to form the traditional funeral procession to St. Gertrude Cemetery, 53 Inman Avenue in Colonia where traditional songs, dances and the prayers of committal will be offered prior to Marian’s burial in the family plot.

Marian, the daughter of the late Maria Ogundare and the late David Ayanbode, was born in Abeokuta, Ogun State in Nigeria.  She came to the Unites States in June of 2012 and has resided in Edison, New Jersey for the past thirteen years.

Throughout her long life, Marian was a midwife, assisting countless women in the final stages of their pregnancy and delivering their precious children into this world, adding to the family’s blessings.

Marian was deeply religious and committed to her faith.  She worshipped by singing religious songs, offering her prayers to the Lord and was known to read her bible extensively.  In addition, Marian was a very creative and active individual who constantly amazed her widespread family and friends.  She loved to write -  autobiographies, stories and truthfully all types of literature.  Marian hands never stopped or slowed in their motion.  She was proficient in knitting, crafting hats and scarves for the family.  Her sewing skills revived clothing from being discarded as she was an expert at repairs and making things “good as new”.  In the kitchen Marian would be whipping up a storm, cooking for family and friends alike, especially the recipes of her native country.  There were constantly delicious aromas coming from the kitchen and no one ever left her home feeling hungry.  Quite the opposite, Marian made sure to always produce enough food, so everyone could take a bit home.  No one ever considered them leftovers, but truthfully a good reason to savor her cooking later for perhaps a midnight snack or devour the next day.  Marian was a walker, especially on a warm sunny day, where she was outside, marveling at all that Mother Nature had to offer  Her nature was being a true explorer, traveling all around the world and most often to Europe.  Even with all these interests, Marian’s  most treasured adventures were the times that she spent with her massive family, whether it was just sitting at the kitchen table or gathering for a celebration.  Speaking of which, Marian was a party animal, laughing, singing and dancing the night away, even at the age of 99.  A truly amazing woman to behold!

Predeceased by her husband, Emmanuel Akanbi Adegboyega on April 6, 2006, Marian is survived by her eight children, Adebola Senbanjo and her husband, Kayode Senbanjo, Aderemi Adegboyega and his wife, Angela Adegboyega, Ayotunde Adegboyega and his wife, Folake, Abidemi Araromi and her husband, Tola, Adetokunbo Adegboyega and her husband, Andy Baldwin, Ibidapo Adegboyega and his wife, Ellen Healy, Ademola Adegboyega and his wife, Abiola and Adeboye Adegboyega; her eighteen grandchildren, Olaolu Senbanjo, Ikeolu & Shuri Senbanjo, Oloyede & Jennifer Adegboyega, Deyo & Bolaji Adegboyega, Fade and Christos Liveras, Dami & Desiree Famuyiwa, Kolapo & Ebun Adegboyega, Niniola Adegboyega, Bowo Adegboyega, Tolu Araromi, Molly-Ann Adegboyega, Mikey Adegboyega, Bolu Araromi, Dolu Adegboyega, Jack Adegboyega, Gbolade Adegboyega, Bolu Adegboyega and Adesope Adegboyega; her seven great-grandchildren, Naniya Senbanjo, Noah Liveras, Jude Liveras, Adeleke Adegboyega, Todi Senbanjo, Isaac Famuyiwa and Aderola Adegboyega and Marian’s many neighbors, friends and church family.

Marian was the center of life for her family, and she had an abundance of love for everyone in her circle.  She will be deeply missed, but Marian’s teachings and legacy will live on forever in all the present generations and those to come.  May she have eternal rest.
