Heronima Carolina Galczynska, 99, of South Amboy, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026.
We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the memorial visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Saturday, March 7th from 2:00 - 4:00PM. The cremation in Rosehill Crematory, Linden was private.
Heronima, the daughter of Jan and Bronislawa Leczynski, was born and raised in Suchedniów, Poland. As the years went by, Heronima and her husband, Alexander, were blessed with children. She so loved being a “mom” that Heronima always took care of everyone. She cooked all types of traditional polish meals and kept the house tidy. Heronima raised four beautiful children, and of course, she was overjoyed to continue caring for her grandchildren as they started arriving. Family was extremely important to Heronima as it truly was the foundation of her caring nature.
Heronima immigrated to the United States in the late 1980’s and she remained in the Elizabeth area until her final years when she moved to South Amboy. Heronima liked to sing and dance, and she loved music. Her strong faith was a big part of her character, and she participated as a lector in St. Adalbert’s Roman Catholic Church in Elizabeth, helping with readings and songs. In her free time, Heronima would take trips to the beach with her family, walking the boardwalk in Keansburg during the summers. The sun, the sand and the smell and sounds of the ocean gave her a peaceful feeling, even as she delighted in watching her family enjoy the surroundings. She had a soft spot for animals of all kinds, which was another testament to her love of life.
Heronima was predeceased by her husband of many years, Alexander Galczynski (1992) and her son, Gregory Janusz Galczynski (2023). She is survived by her three daughters, Elzbieta Marylska and her husband Marek, Alexandra Pawelec and her husband Jan, and Aldona Klimaszewski and her husband Jerzy; Heronima’s many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbors and friends.
Heronima lived a long and beautiful life, surrounded by a circle of love from her family and friends. We pray that her soul finds Eternal Rest with the Lord, and the memory of Heronima continues to bring happiness to all. Amen.
